Cincinnati Mills is a privately owned facility isn't it? That means they can set whatever rules and regulations they like. They will ultimately live or die by those rules.

Kinda goes against the whole mall thing forbidding teens to hang out in groups like that. I had not heard this, but I do know that they are going for the "family shopping experience" there. I guess they have the right to impose dress code regulations, and I've sen places that only allow two teens in at a time so I kinda doubt they could do much more than have a public forum over this if someone makes a stink about it.

I think all the locals will recall that Forest Fair failed because of the bands of youths that hung out there.
What I heard on the radio this morning was this: if mall security sees people doing things against the code of conduct, they give the (alleged) offender a printed copy of the code.
Some moron from Oxford complained because they gave it to him twice, before asking that he leave.
The infraction was the way he was wearing his hat. It seems to me that if he wanted to be in the mall, after the first time he would have either taken off his hat, or worn it properly.
The Forest Fair mall didn't fail due to gangs o youts. It was in trouble from the beginning, when the developer went bankrupt before it was finished. Someone else finished it up, but marketed it as an upscale mall in a non-upscale neighborhood. With the wrong "anchor" stores to draw in big crowds, it had a steady decline.
My teenage son toured it last weekend and thought it was pretty awesome, so I guess that's a good sign since teens seems are one of the predominate retail targets these days. (I'll axe him if he heard about the secret code later.)

I can't find anything in print (not that I searched too hard), but I've heard on AM news reports that Cincinnati Mills (formerly Forest Fair Mall) has instituted a code of conduct.
Among other things, it prohibits more than 3 teenages from hanging out together, prohibits "offensive" clothing, gestures and speech.
Some kids from Oxford have already complained that they were discriminated against.
Discuss.
There you go, Lan. That's the problem with the code and the air time it's getting.
The folks who follow the general rules of society don't get the list of rules. So it probably IS discriminatory, since it's targeting only people who break the rules. [img]eek.gif[/img]

I give Cincy Mills one year. Though I give the Mills corporation "A" for effort, they filled the place with a lot of no-name stores for filler.
I mean - Johnny's Toys as an anchor???? One can't help but notice the lack of big names in the mall.
Most of what I'd shop for in that mall was already there before the reopening.
